Webinar "MCDA for Policy Making on Orphan Medicinal Products (OMPs)
We continue our series of webinars on MCDA in the field of rare diseases!
On February 26th, at 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM, we will feature our colleagues from Iran.
Why MCDA for orphan drugs?
Orphan technologies often come with high clinical and economic uncertainty: small patient populations, limited evidence base, difficulty in direct comparisons, high cost, and significant ethical/social considerations. MCDA helps to structure the "value" of a technology beyond a single indicator, transparently define criteria and their weighting, and compare alternatives in the face of data shortages. Relaxing standard requirements for orphan drug HTA is not the solution. Orphan drugs require specialized tools capable of determining their value even with limited data.
Included in the program:
-
Why orphan drug policy and decision-making differ from "regular" ones;
-
International models for orphan drug regulation and financing;
-
The role of MCDA in early orphan drug HTA;
-
MCDA in reimbursement and pricing decisions;
-
Integrated decision chain model for orphan drugs;
-
MCDA methodological core: criteria, weights, value assessment, uncertainty management, value matrix.
