Rare (orphan) diseases are diseases that occur in very few people. Although each individual orphan disease affects a relatively small number of people, there are more than 7,000 such diseases in total, affecting millions of patients worldwide.
The goal of the Consortium is to develop cooperation to improve the availability of diagnostics, treatment and medical care for patients with rare (orphan) diseases.
