Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatrics
In Uzbekistan, from 1927 to 1940, work in the field of maternal and child health was headed by the Research Institute for Maternal and Child Health, which ceased to exist in 1940 due to the organization of the pediatric faculty as part of the Tashkent State Medical Institute. The Uzbek Research Institute for Maternal and Child Health was re-organized in 1966. The scientific topics of the institute were devoted to the following issues: organizing medical and preventive care for children and mothers, reducing maternal, perinatal and child mortality, preventing and treating acute and chronic diseases of the digestive system in children, studying the physiological characteristics of the child's body. In 1969, the institute was renamed the Uzbek Research Institute of Pediatrics, while retaining the department of obstetrics and gynecology in its structure, on the basis of which the Uzbek Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology was organized in 1974.
