The CIS Orphan Consortium and the National Institute for Health Research of Iran signed a cooperation agreement
The CIS Orphan Consortium and the National Institute for Health Research of Iran at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of rare diseases.
On behalf of the CIS Orphan Consortium, the document was signed by the Consortium President, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the NMIC DGOI im. Dmitry Rogachev, Alexander Grigorievich Rumyantsev.On behalf of the National Institute for Health Research of Iran — Dr. Ali Akbarisari, Director of the Institute.
The National Institute for Health Research of Iran is one of the key expert and analytical organizations in the country's healthcare system.
The Institute operates within the Tehran University of Medical Sciences and is engaged in:
- Population health monitoring
- Development of evidence-based decision support in healthcare
- Preparation of analytical materials
- Strengthening interaction between researchers and decision-makers
A key area of cooperation will be health technology assessment (HTA) and joint work on tools to improve the efficiency of drug provision for orphan patients.
The main focus will be on:
- decision-making methodology
- analysis of the clinical and economic value of therapy
- use of real-world data (RWD)
- preparation of practical recommendations for healthcare systems
Cooperation is already developing in practice
Previously, experts from Iran held a webinar for a CIS audience on MCDA (Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis).
Iranian colleagues are also expected to participate in the CIS Orphan Forum, which will be held on May 25-26.
The parties are currently discussing further formats of cooperation, including:
- joint expert initiatives
- educational projects
- research programs
Despite external restrictions, Iranian colleagues continue their work in the interests of the healthcare system and patients, and the parties confirm their readiness to develop practical international cooperation in the field of rare diseases.
