On 29–30 October 2026, the V International Forum on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Hereditary Orphan Diseases "Commonwealth Without Borders" will be held in Samarkand. We have previously written about the forum and the conditions for participation.
The programme announces the participation of specialists from 18 countries: Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Italy, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Turkey, Israel, the United States, and Japan.
On 29 October, the forum will host roundtables of the CIS Orphan Consortium. The discussion will focus on the early detection of rare diseases and on pharmaceutical policy that ensures access to treatment.
Orphan Awareness in Paediatric Practice
We will discuss how to suspect a rare disease in a timely manner, refer a child for diagnosis, and organise comprehensive follow-up. The roundtable programme also includes issues of the operation of orphan centres and the training of paediatricians.
Pharmaceutical Policy: From International Experience to National Decisions
Three sessions will successively cover:
• International experience — the approaches of Russia and Kazakhstan to ensuring access to orphan drugs, including the work of the "Circle of Good" foundation, centralised procurement, and the participation of patient organisations.
• The current situation in Uzbekistan — the development of the medicines reimbursement system, the experience of the orphan centre, and the role of the public foundation in providing children with medicinal therapy.
• Development prospects — the application of health technology assessment and opportunities for improving the medicinal provision system in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Detailed topics are presented in the forum's scientific programme.
Venue: Multidisciplinary Clinic of Samarkand State Medical University, Samarkand, Ankabay St., 6.
We invite colleagues to join the discussion!
