The World Health Organization (WHO) has published a Glossary of Health Data, Statistics and Public Health Indicators.
This glossary will become an indispensable tool for:
- specialists working with health data
- unification of terminology in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data
- improvement of monitoring and evaluation of diseases, including orphan diseases
International cooperation and the CIS
Standardization of health data is key to ensuring:
- effective exchange of information between countries and the development of international cooperation
- comparability of data needed to monitor global trends and assess the impact of health programs and develop new strategies for the treatment of rare diseases

- key terms related to the processes of data collection, information management and statistical methods used in public health
- standardized definitions and recommendations for specialists, including analysts, epidemiologists and other stakeholders.
